Data on your Mac

Tile Scout stores your StatsHunters API code, downloaded tile coordinates, cache timestamp and overlay preferences in Safari’s local extension storage. This storage is not Keychain storage and Tile Scout does not sync it between devices. The tile data can reveal places you have explored.

Requests to StatsHunters

When you connect or refresh, Tile Scout sends your API code directly to StatsHunters over HTTPS to request your tiles. The code is part of the request URL. StatsHunters also receives ordinary network information such as your IP address and may keep its own request logs. Tile Scout omits cookies and referrers from these requests. Enabled overlays can refresh an expired cache when loading the planner; the cache is considered fresh for 15 minutes.

The Strava page

Tile Scout reads the map and current route in the Strava planner to draw overlays and count new tiles. It does not upload the route. Tile coordinates and overlay settings are shared with the map integration running in the Strava page, so scripts on that page can observe them. Your API code is kept in the extension and is not shared with the page.

No Tile Scout tracking service

Tile Scout has no developer-operated data server, advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs or automatic telemetry. The containing Mac app displays bundled setup and help pages. StatsHunters and Strava operate independently and their own privacy policies apply to their services.

Retention and deletion

Your API code and cached tiles remain in local extension storage until replaced or removed. Disconnect in the popup deletes the stored code and tile cache and clears active overlays; it keeps your display preferences. Turning Map overlay off hides the tiles and remembers that choice, but does not disconnect your account. Disconnecting does not delete data held by StatsHunters or Strava or revoke the API code at StatsHunters; manage those through the respective services.

Support and policy changes

FrontEndGuy is responsible for Tile Scout’s privacy practices. If you contact support, your message and contact details are used to answer your request and handled by our email provider. We retain correspondence only as long as needed to resolve and follow up on your request, or meet legal obligations. Do not include credentials or private routes. Contact support to request access, correction or deletion of support correspondence.

This website

Cloudflare hosts and protects this website, processing IP addresses and technical request information for those purposes. See its privacy policy. We do not add analytics, advertising scripts or tracking cookies. Visiting external links is subject to the destination’s privacy practices. This policy will be updated if Tile Scout’s data practices change.
